I am a psychologist, Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher, Assistant Editor of Think: A Journal of Poetry, Fiction and Essays, and graduate of the MFA Poetry Writing Program at Western Colorado University, which emphasizes traditional verse forms, meter and rhyme. My mentors in the program were Julie Kane, David Rothman, and Ernest Hilbert. I have also taken creative writing classes at the University of Colorado in Boulder and Lighthouse Writers Workshop in Denver. In addition to being a seasoned Zen practitioner, I have studied Indian devotional singing with Sheela Bringi at Naropa University, and participated in Jai Uttal’s Kirtan training program.

My first book, The Stones Keep Watch, a collection of poems that evokes the beauty and fragility of the natural world and offers a passionate reflection on the ecological crisis we are facing today, was published by Kelsay Books in the fall of 2021. My second book, Shiva’s Dance, a sequence of sonnets featuring yoga poses and their mythological and philosophical underpinnings, was released in May, 2022.

My poetry has been published in numerous print and online literary journals, including Amethyst Review, Appalachia, Ariel Chart, Asses of Parnassus, Autumn Sky, Boulder Weekly, Buddhist Poetry Review, Blue Unicorn, Chained Muse, Colorado Sun, Copperfield Review, Eastern Structures, Ekphrastic Review, Heron Clan Anthology, IthacaLit, Lighten Up Online, The Light, The Literary Nest, The Lyric, Mountains Talking, Muse India, New Lyre, New Verse News, The Orchards, Peacock Journal, Redheaded Stepchild, Road Not Taken, Sparks of Calliope, Urthona Journal of Buddhism and the Arts, Verse-Virtual, Westward Quarterly, and Yoga Samachar. My book reviews have appeared in Cha: An Asian Literary Journal, and Raintown Review.

A Pushcart Prize nominee, I won The Lyric Magazine’s 2017 Fall Quarterly Award and 2020 Winter Quarterly Award. I won second prize in the 2019 Soul-Making Keats Literary Competition, and was awarded Special Recognition in the 2019 and 2020 Helen Schaible International Sonnet Contest.

Born in Toronto and raised among the pines and granite cliffs of Foot’s Bay, Ontario, I now live in Boulder, Colorado where I often encounter my muse wandering in the mountains.
